Men To Watch 2024 honoree Andre Samuels



Andre Samuels, Ed.D. has honed his expertise in leadership development, team dynamics, and organizational transformation. Recognizing the critical importance of coaching and developing Black leaders, he is dedicated to fostering representation and empowerment within this demographic. His coaching philosophy centers around the belief that leadership is not about authority but influence and inspiration. He guides organization leaders in discovering their authentic leadership style, fostering self-awareness, and enhancing communication and relationship-building skills.


Andre's extensive experience and diverse client base are a testament to his expertise. He has led professional learning sessions with Barclays Bank, Baltimore County Public Schools, Jackson Memorial Hospital, The Aspen Institute, Urban Teachers, National Summit for Principal Supervisors, and American University. His executive leadership coaching relationships include Anagen Staffing & Solutions, City Year, The Bayne Corporation, The National Federation of Credit Counseling, 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC, Alfred Street Baptist Church, Dallas 2026, and clients leading charities, not-for-profit/for-profit corporations, partnerships, and educational institutions.


In November 2019, he earned his international certification in Executive Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University's Center for Transformational Leadership. His facilitation training at the NYC Leadership Academy helps him tailor coaching strategies to meet the needs of any organization.


Andre holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Communication Studies and two Master's degrees in Educational Administration and Policy and Special Education from Howard University. In 2014, he earned a Master's in Business Administration in Leadership from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. Andre completed coursework in Diversity and Inclusion at Cornell University and is a certified executive leadership coach with the International Coaching Federation. He holds a Doctorate in Educational and Organizational Leadership from The University of Pennsylvania.


Black leaders often face unique challenges and barriers when climbing the corporate ladder, and Andre is dedicated to helping them navigate these obstacles more effectively through coaching. His work is not just about individual success but about inspiring younger generations and aspiring leaders from similar backgrounds, fostering a more diverse and inclusive leadership landscape. By addressing systemic biases and microaggressions, his coaching provides strategies to manage and counteract these issues, helping Black leaders leverage their cultural background as a strength. Whether coaching executives, guiding emerging leaders or working with teams, his mission is to unlock the potential within individuals and organizations, enabling them to lead with purpose, resilience, and authenticity.


Andre is not just a professional but also a proud father, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC, and Walker Memorial Baptist Church. These personal affiliations are a testament to his commitment to community and personal growth. They also reflect his values and the principles that guide his coaching practice. He is an internationally certified coach with the International Coaching Federation and holds certifications from Gallup's Strengths and the Center for Creative Leadership. He has coached many leaders, including entrepreneurs, for-profit and non-profit C-Suite executives, and their teams.
